healthy snacks:

A couple of weeks ago I wrote a post on the best healthy snacks A-M.  With the school year starting, I know how important it is to have good healthy snacks waiting for your kiddos when they get home. So here is the rest of that list!  Happy snacking!

Parfait (layer yogurt, granola and fruit)


Peaches or pears and cottage cheese

Peanut butter (spread it on celery, whole wheat toast or apple slices)



Peppers and ranch


Pineapple spears

Pine Nuts


Pita bread and hummus


Pumpkin seeds

Quesadilla (peppers, onions, mushrooms, chicken on a whole wheat tortilla)



Rice cakes (brown rice of course!)

Snap peas

Sunflower seeds

Sweet potatos (make them into fries or mash them with some cinnamon!)


Smoothie (this is a great recipe for a green smoothie)

String cheese

Trail mix

Tuna salad with light mayo on Triscuits

Turkey slices, chese and crackers

Veggies and dip (hummus, guacamole, greek yogurt dip)


Watermelon (freeze cubes for a cool summer snack)

Yogurt (go for Greek yogurt, extra protein!)

I know a few things on this list aren’t exactly ‘grab and go’ friendly.  My advice is to pick 1-2 of these a week and prep them early on and snack on them throughout the whole week.  Rotate through a few of them to find out what foods your kids like and what they don’t like. Start snacking healthier now, it will make feeding them healthy meals so much easier! What are other things your kids like to snack on?
