road trip playlist

road trip playlist www.radmomcoolkid.com

I am preparing for one hell of a road trip, friends. From Utah to Maryland. With 3 kids.

While I love listening to Isca and Hollis sing “let it go” all day, every day, since Christmas, I know that it has the potential to catapult me into a mental/emotional/crazy eyes breakdown at some point during our travels. To avoid the ugliness I made myself a road trip playlist that is not all rainbows and bubble gum and glitter. Because I don’t like kid movies, not even a little. Hexus is my favorite character from Ferngully.

Here are the songs I am liking lately //

Abi McQuater // One Time

The Brocks // Circles

Vampire Weekend // Step

Ghost Beach // Been There Before

Wild Belle // Shine

Leagues // Spotlight

Cayucas // East Coast Girl

If you are braving the open road this summer I have a great list of road trip games here and tips for trippin’ with kids here.

Add your favorite songs below, I might neeeeeeed them.

  3. I love this list! I haven’t heard of a lot of the songs but I really like them all! GOOD LUCK on your roadtrip by the way! We’ll be thinking of you and crossing our fingers the kiddos are good!

  4. Man, there are no words for that kind of roadtrip. But on a bright note, I love your song picks! Thanks for some new summer tunes!

  5. I love being introduced to new songs! Awesome variety.

  6. Thanks for the suggestions as always enjoy learning something new! Thanks for sharing today too!

  7. Honestly I have never heard of those artists before–not surprising since I am stuck in the 60’s, 70’s and a little into the 80’s!! Lots of those songs would keep you going–

  8. I will show my daughter this one that Abi Macguire played, she might learn to play this in puiano as well. Thanks for sharing.

  9. What a great playlist and great idea. I’ve never thought to have one but we have a road trip coming up and I think I’ll make one before that time. Thanks for sharing

GREAT playlist (I love making playlists, they’re so much fun!) I LOVE Vampire Weekend! I definitely need to check out a few other songs on this list <3

  11. I don’t think I’ve heard any of these songs. I am planning on going on a road trip soon though. I need to add these to my Itunes.

  12. I think I am out of touch. I don’t know any of the songs listed.

  13. I have never made a playlist just for a roadtrip. I do have to have good jams for a trip to help me stay entertained.

I haven’t heard of most of those songs, but then again – I am totally out of the loop. I mainly just listen to top 40 because that is what my kids like.

  15. I have the best memories of going on road trips with my mom, sister, and grandma when younger. We always blasted the oldies station….and my little guys love it too!

  16. Yes, long road trips with kids are tough! We have done a lot of long plane and car trips and a playlist is wonderful to have on your phone or in the car! I like a lot of these songs and wish you luck on this upcoming car trip!

  17. I love a good playlist, especially for trips, it sets memories and makes the time go faster!

  18. CourtneyLynne says:

these are some great playlist suggestions. I need to update my playlist… Might just add one of these tunes

  19. A road trip with 3 kids?? You are brave, but it sounds like it will be a lot of fun! I love the idea of having a playlist, especially since you don’t know which stations will be available as you move from state-to-state.

  20. I’ve never heard any of these songs – I’m more of a “Let It Go” kind of gal myself. I actually like that song a lot (Don’t tell my daughter or we’ll have to watch the movie again!)

  21. Rebecca Swenor says:

What a great playlist for traveling. These seems like an awesome idea indeed to make a trip playlist. Thanks for sharing.

  22. This is really gonna power up the road trip. It’s gonna keep everyone in an upbeat mood in the long drive.

  23. Fi Ní Neachtáin says:

I have to admit that I’ve never heard of any of these bands before. It’s always great to have some of your music on when traveling though!

  24. Good luck on your road trip. The music would definitely liven up the trip plus of course, the 3 kids would also be a good company.

  25. Great playlist!! Enjoy your trip! You may need a vaca from your vaca! :)
Thanks for the bands to check out, always looking for new music!

  26. You got an awesome list there. I am planning to make one for myself. Not for a road trip but for some running sessions that I am planning to do sometime… later? ^_^

  27. This is a great playlist. I love listening to Rihanna and Pitbull songs. They are so catchy

  28. Fun set of tunes! I’m so bad at knowing the names/artists of certain songs. I’d heard some of these, but didn’t know the artists. It’s great to put the two together.

  29. I didn’t know any. I feel so outdated. I have Frank Sinatra on my playlist, hahahaa. Antiquated perhaps, but true. ;)

  30. Such a great list of songs! Enjoy your trip and looking forward to photos fom the trip.

  31. I love Vampire Weekend. Great choice of tunes for a road trip.
